Reflections (continued)
I smile at my reflection in the water. I look back at myself with an unconscious realization that my pleasure once came only because I did not see myself clearly. I spent most of my life avoiding mirrors. The motionless face portrayed only what others saw.

"You could be so pretty if..."
"Your hair doesn't your face."
"You need to lose weight."

With help, I reclaimed my physical body. Yet I was unaware how shallow my reflection was until life handed me a turning point. A crossroads that urged me to look beyond the static picture of myself. To see the fluid reflections that had shaped the core of my being. I came to realize the better I understand who I see in the mirror, the better I understand others in front of me. Now, my reflection speaks to a continuing transformation with infinite possibilities that make me smile.
